PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] — Filip Simeski '17 is one of eight recipients of the UMD John L. N. Bitove, C. M. Macedonian Heritage Scholarship Award by the United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD). A mechanical engineering concentrator at Brown University, Simeski was born and raised in Macedonia before coming to Providence to pursue his undergraduate studies. Since coming to Brown, Simeski has taken on numerous leadership positions in various student organizations. He is one of the founders of the Macedonian Association at Brown and was president of the Brown International Organization (BRIO). He is also one of the leaders of the Engineering Department Undergraduate Group.
Simeski works as a research assistant to Prof. Keith Brown at the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs and as an undergraduate researcher in Jennifer Franck's group in Computational Fluid Dynamics in the School of Engineering. For his research work, Simeski was awarded the Karen T. Romer Undergraduate Research and Teaching Award.
After his graduation in May, Simeski plans to go on to graduate school in Fluid Mechanics.
