Brown University School of Engineering Programs Accreditation Renewed

abetAfter a complete year-long review, the undergraduate programs in biomedical engineering, chemical and biochemical engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, materials engineering, and mechanical engineering at Brown University were re-accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET (www.abet.org).

The ABET visit team, made up of leading academics from across the country engaged with faculty and school leadership to thoroughly examine and evaluate these undergraduate degree programs. The ABET review culminated in a visit last October and subsequently a final report issued this August. "The review was very useful to us to hear thoughtful analysis and feedback on our programs from our peers," said Dean Larry Larson. "The renewed accreditation is an acknowledgement of the quality and results of our programs."

The external ABET evaluation team examined all aspects of the curricula, student outcomes and feedback from alumni and students.

The review was led by Professor Iris Bahar and Associate Dean Jennifer Casasanto with assistance from faculty, staff and students who worked on the preparation of the materials for the review.

"The visiting team was impressed by our investments in undergraduate education and our rigorous and inspiring student-centered curriculum," said Casasanto. "This is something we can all be proud of."
