Tina Trahan, financial coordinator in the School of Engineering, has received the 2013-14 Dean's Service Award. The award, established during the 2012-13 academic year, was created to recognize a non-managing employee who has made a specific contribution or provided outstanding service in the School of Engineering.
The award is an opportunity to recognize the performance of an individual who has been a positive instrument of change; made significant contributions; and who has provided outstanding service to our internal and external constituents.
Tina has grown to be an integral part of the School. She always goes beyond what is necessary. She goes out of her way to be helpful and has a great customer service mentality – always putting the needs of the School first. Staff in multiple departments have commented that she is their "go to" person when they have a question. She has garnered the reputation that if she doesn't know an answer personally, she knows how and who to contact to find it.
Tina manages multiple financial functions. Her dedication to the School, attention to detail and her work ethic are critical to the overall maintenance of the School's finances. In addition to her regular financial duties, she was also a key part of the Commencement team. During the weekend, she was an excellent representative of the School with her warm approach with alumni and parents and excellent problem solving skills. She stepped in to fill staffing voids, assisted other staff members before and during the weekend, resolved problems and was an invaluable resource. Her knowledge, confidence and skill helped create a successful weekend for our students and their families.
Additionally, Tina is very creative. A true Rhode Islander, she has helped to put together our "Rhode-Island" themed goodbye baskets for special occasions for VIPs and delivered a memorable performance to the President and Provost.
Tina continues to be a valued member of the School of Engineering – someone who always goes above and beyond and is an excellent representative of the School. We appreciate her 25 years of loyal service to the School of Engineering and Brown.
