Experienced higher education leader John Dobrowski will be joining the School of Engineering at Brown University as the Executive Dean of Finance and Administration starting April 21, 2026.
“As Executive Dean, John will serve as my direct partner, focusing on building a dynamic, flexible, and fully aligned structure to better support our faculty and staff, and advance our ambitious, long-term goals,” said Sorensen Family Dean of Engineering Tejal Desai.
Dobrowski brings over fifteen years of leadership experience in financial planning, budgeting, and administrative operations across complex higher education institutions. He comes to Brown from Harvard University, where he most recently served as the Director of Budget and Planning for the T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
“Throughout his career, John has demonstrated a proven record of aligning financial strategy with academic missions,” said Desai, “and he has a strong track record of building the foundations necessary to advance research and innovation.”
Beyond his extensive financial expertise, John is passionate about transparency and education. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Babson College and a Bachelor of Science in Management from Boston College.
