Brown Engineering’s Shayaan Chaudhary ’26 is the recipient of the Optica Foundation’s 2025 Bonenfant International Travel Scholarship. Chaudhary is a computer engineering concentrator and a member of Professor Kimani Toussaint’s PROBE Laboratory.
The goal of the scholarship is to provide international experience to students as they prepare for professional lives that promote global engagement and collaboration. It supports international study and research for engineering or physical science students involved with optics research, and who have been accepted to a study-abroad program of at least six weeks. Chaudhary joins an elite group of less than 10 students (graduate and undergraduate) to have been awarded funding since the scholarship’s inception in 2013.
Chaudhary will join the Integrated Quantum Photonics group at Humboldt University in Berlin this fall as part of Brown’s Semester Internship Program to work on hardware for quantum computing. He will assist on the Real-Time Logic for a Quantum Control Protocol research project, as a member of the IQP.
