Larry Larson, inaugural dean of the School of Engineering, speaks about his background in engineering, the interdisciplinary culture at Brown, and the future growth of the School.
Dean Larson points to the success of the BrainGate project and continued expansion of research in biomedical engineering. An emphasis on research in energy and environment will also be be important in the coming decades.
Two other keys projects are the Brown Design Workshop, which will create a space for making and design, and the Center for Entrepreneurial Innovation, which will help to translate innovations developed in the lab into high impact ventures.
