Robert Hurt, professor of engineering, has taken over as editor-in-chief for the materials science and nanotechnology journal Carbon. Hurt will lead a 10-member editorial board of scientists from all over the world. The editorial headquarters for the journal will be Brown's Institute for Molecular and Nanoscale Innovation, of which Hurt is director.
"Both IMNI and Carbon focus on materials science and nanotechnology, and both are multidisciplinary in nature, with members and contributors from chemistry, engineering, physics, and some biology," Hurt said. "So IMNI is a natural home for the journal at Brown."
Carbon receives about 2,000 manuscripts per year and last year published approximately 750.
