The Brown Summer Transition Engineering Program (STEP) is an empowering, hybrid undergraduate pre-orientation program designed to foster inclusion, community, and inspiration needed to thrive in engineering.
The online portion of the program will take place July 7 - August 15, followed by the on-campus residency from August 18 - 22, before the semester officially starts. Students admitted to STEP are expected to participate in both the online and in-person programs. During the residency, STEP students will engage in specialized engineering cohort-building activities on campus that build upon aspects of the online program.
Please note that students without a family contribution in their financial aid package may qualify for support with travel to Brown should you be selected for STEP (with a move-in date of August 18th), depending on how far you might need to travel to get to campus. Should you be selected for the program, we will work with the financial aid office on booking travel, so please hold off on booking your travel until we are further along in the process.
For more information about STEP, and other inclusion initiatives in the School of Engineering, please contact Associate Dean Megan Russell at megan_russell@brown.edu.
Application opens on May 5th, 2025 and closes on June 1st, 2025. You should receive a decision by mid-June.
